Today, LA Weekly released it's article on shared creative spaces in Los Angeles, making it the most recent admirer of the Maker City LA vision.

'During Maker City L.A.'s September soft opening at a party there celebrating the 10th anniversary of electronic radio station Dublab, ravers stepped gingerly out of the elevator and marveled at the blue and gold tree stretching its branches around the foyer. As beats pulsed from a workroom down the hall called the Atelier, men in thick-framed glasses peered into the matcha-stocked Japanese tearoom that will serve as an office for the 60,000-square-foot space's general manager, or "cruise director."'

Thanks to Artisanal LA, it's been such a fun week at Maker City LA. We learned so much attending workshops on the 11th floor at Maker City LA and sampled delicious sweets and savories down on the 2nd floor with Magic Box. Click here to see pictures of all the festivities.

Not that we're surprised in the least, but Artisanal LA has racked up more than a few stunning reviews. LA I'm Your had this to say:

"[Artisanal LA] is one of the wildest foodie events you can attend in Los Angeles and, if you missed this, you are going to hear earfuls about this for some time. You really, really missed out, dude."

California Apparel News covered the event.

"The cavernous space was set to look a boutique hotel, with sleek white furniture and hanging crystal lights.

The event featured designers Thai Nguyen, Dena Burton, Brian “BK” Phillips, Dominique Siby Designer of Felio Siby and Rocky Gathercole on the runway, and installations by accessories by Karlita Designs, Yukiko and Sarah Horne Jewelry."

This post goes out to Yelp Helps, an awesome org brought to you by yelp.com. We partnered up with these fabulous helpers to host a night of fun and do-good. On Thursday, September 12, from 6-9pm, non-profits were on-site to promote volunteer opportunities and ways to give back through unique hands-on activities. While guests learned more from the participating organizations, a dazzling array of delicious snacks and beverage stations were provided by local businesses to tantalize taste buds and quench thirst.

LA I'M YOURS \\ DUBLAB

LA I'M YOURS

Here’s our official first piece of press, and it's a love letter to Maker City LA.“What if a maker had every type of tool and space and community accessible to them? It doesn’t matter if you are out of school or a young designer who has a home office? That’s the vision. We know tons of bloggers and creators of all sorts who can’t access those traditional ways of establishing yourself. This helps little fish and big fish thrive in a big environment and be cool with multiple definitions of success.”We're so proud that others are starting to take notice of what a special thing we have going on here at Maker City LA. This is just the beginning...

DUBLAB

Hopefully those that attended the dublab event on Saturday September 21 had a fabulous time. Seen below, super-rad black-light ping pong:

The night featured musical performances, DJ sets, film projections, live screen-printing, food trucks, beer & wine bar, art activations and a gathering of LA’s creative community. See more pictures.
That's all for now; there's plenty of Maker City LA goodness right around the corner.
TGIF,
Miranda
